I am trying to rotate this type of motor http://rs-catalog.ru/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=41472 and here you can find it’s datasheet http://docs-europe.electrocomponents.com/webdocs/0739/0900766b807394bd.pdf. I am using the L298 as an H-bridge for this motor but the motor did not rotate and I am afraid that something from the H-bridge is happening i am connecting like this http://www.google.com.mt/imgres?q=L298+Dual+H-Bridge+Motor+Driver+schematic&hl=mt&sa=X&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=TrOGmk2ELueqSM:&imgrefurl=http://www.solarbotics.com/product/k_cmd/&docid=Di5xbW41e59r6M&imgurl=http://content.solarbotics.com/products/schematics/solarbotics-l298_schematic_complete.jpg&w=1056&h=760&ei=igqcT5yGBcfsOc6nyPsB&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=186&vpy=257&dur=3&hovh=190&hovw=265&tx=145&ty=118&sig=101803358702399884465&page=3&tbnh=142&tbnw=197&start=42&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:42,i:182&biw=1366&bih=667
but instead I didn’t make the voltage regulator because no use of it i am expecting because the +5V is getting from the Enable from the micro. And another thing that I changed are the diodes instead i used 1N5822 , becuse between each phase there are 2A can some one help me and tell me what is the cause that the motor didn’t rotate thanks alot

May 7, 2012 at 6:28 pm #7610AJISH ALFREDParticipantHow can you use a L298 for stepper motor driving? They are normally used for dc motors, I think.
May 7, 2012 at 6:35 pm #7611D.V.G. KrishnaParticipantusing a l293d for driving a stepper is very complex i preffer you to use
ULN2003
this is a darlington array
to drive a stepper first you need to understand the type of motor and working of it

May 7, 2012 at 8:21 pm #7615antonioParticipantThanks for helping me but I can’t use this IC becase I need 2A as an output current and this IC can only drive an output current of 500mA what can I do
May 8, 2012 at 7:03 am #7617AJISH ALFREDParticipantI you better use darlington pair TIP 100 or TIP 102 for each pin of the motor. In datasheet the maximum collector current is given as 8A.

in that case i too prefer to go for high current MOSFETS for better switching
but they are a bit costly
i used a tecnique
i took three 2003 ics and
short 4 inputs and and short the coressponding out puts
as a result you will get 500*4=2000mA=2A
the cost will be less compares to that off MOSFETs as the need proper biasing circuit

you can find more about types of steppers
May 18, 2012 at 9:06 am #7851antonioParticipantCan someone tell how the stepper motor works do I need pwm for the stepper motor to rotate
Can someone gives me a good program for the hybrid motor thanks alot
May 18, 2012 at 6:09 pm #7854AJISH ALFREDParticipantThere is an article about the stepper motor in engineersgarrage. Please find the link
