Highlighted componant is variable resistor.

It is a variable resistor, with the middle pin can be slided in both directions to vary the resistance value across the middle pin and any of the other pin.

Normally we use 10K

dont confuse with those resistors.. that resistor for controling the contrast of lcd.. if u connected high resistance value contarast will be less and vice versa
