Communicating with R303A fingerprint reader module

I want to interface R303A fingerprint reader module and read a finger print image through it and use it for further authentication purpose using pic. Can anyone help me out with this?

I connected r303a to serial port of P8v51 RD2.

I have a problemwit add,search,deleate or do any commands using r303a can any one tell me how to send the commands to r303a.

I want to use this module in my upcoming project and i am facing  difficulty with packet data that has to be sent to the module!!

So i used SFG Demo software and was able to enroll and search for finger prints when i used it for the 1st time !!But now with the same sfg software i am not able to connect it to the pc!!i get an error code saying”Open Device Fail, please check the device address and passward”.I have used max232 ic!!And it dosent show the com port that has been occupied in device manager!!

please help!!!

check the com port number in the software and device manager. Both ports should be same…
that might be one reason…

have checked it !!same com ports!!i’m using win7 will it b a problem??

how to see if my scanner is working o not?

can i connect it to usb??what ckts shud be used??

If you want to check if r303 module works then connect its vcc to 5v and gnd to gnd.

immediately after connecting gnd Immediately light will glow on and off(that on and off is fraction of sec). that means that r303 is working.

Then comming to open device error try removing and trying againg.
