    you need two 8051 microcontrollers

    one at the computer and

    one on the robot

at the pc side you need to work on serial communication between pc and 8051 using serial port(UART)

connect an RF module through HT12E

    to 8051.

connect a RF receiver through  HT12D to the 8051 on the robot

for the circuits of RF modules visit

Follow the instructions in the post by Krishna.

In the transmitter side from the PC, its not necessary to use a controller. Just use any softwares like hyperterminal or putty and open a serial port with baud rate 1200. That is the maximum baud rate at which the rf module can work. You need a serial to ttl converter to interface the serial port with the DataIn pin of the rf module.

Now just send your data to the port and it will get transmitted.

yes you can connect the RF module directly to the PC but there will be some unwanted noice

if you go for HT12E encoder you can establish a noice free communication
