I want to make a thermometer (or any other measuring device ) using respberry pi which send it output to net & we can get the data directly though net(using some web site)

    this was my Idea.

If you have some better idea plesase reply me.

    Hi Pankaj,

That you can easily do with normal microcontroller boards also, as an example Arduino. With Raspberrypi I suggest you to add more complex things to your project like a Graphical display etc.

    Hi Ajish,

First of all thank you for your reply. I have to make an automated vigilance camera with the help of which we can see through laptop or mobile with the use of internet. Can you kindly give some tips regarding this as you have said and I m thinking to use microcontroller 8051 (89c51 or 89c52).

    Hi Pankaj,

“Automated Vijilance Camera”, great topic. Dont even think about doing it with 8051. You can do that with Raspberrypi since it has camera interface and Ethernet port for connecting the internet.

    Hi Ajish,

Why you suggest me not to use 8051 or PIC for this project ? And my project is on 1 camera but if I want to use 2 cameras then 2 camera I have use 2 rashberry Pi ?

Camera zooming should be controlled by computer(may be online or offline). And for zooming there is 4 lense which have to controlled by using stepper motor.

Can you give me few Ideas to how to start this project ? And the most important part if my project is “cost efficiency”,So that it can be implimented easily. Can you suggest me more ideas, your ideas are very helpful to me.

Can you tell Why it is best to use Rashberry Pi then arduino & other microcontroller ?

    Hi Pankaj,

Actually I thought you were planning to interfacing the camera with the 8051 and planning for stuffs like image processing and all.

If you need to control the zoom lens of the camera only, then 8051 or arduino will do.

    Hi Pankaj,

    Sorry for the delayed reply!

I really want to help you, but your project idea is still not clear for me.

You’ve mentioned in your early post that

“I have to make an automated vigilance camera with the help of which we can see through laptop or mobile with the use of internet. “

Where you want to use a microcontroller here? We already have softwares like Skype.

Then in another post you mentioned that

“Camera zooming should be controlled by computer(may be online or offline). And for zooming there is 4 lense which have to controlled by using stepper motor.“

If I’m not wrong the mobile or laptop cameras dont have zoom lens.
