    Hi,

I’m doing a project that is based on RF. I’m using an RF operated remote instead of IR. I am inco-operating my project to an all ready manufucturee remote. Its a way of locating the remote in case you misplace it. What type of encoder can i use given that for this project its basically like a 1 bit data input cause i’m making use of only button? I’m asking this because like a HT12E has a 4 bit data input, or can i use a multiplexer so that i utilise a HT12E encoder. I’ll really appreciate your help.

    Regards,

    Cymn.

    Hi Cymn,

The HT12E generates encoded serial data. To nake use of 8 bit data, simply write the first 4 bits of your 8 bit data and once they are transmitted write the remaining 4 bits.

    Which microcontroller are you using??

I’m not using any micro-controller in my project. Let me put it this way, the encoder i want to use has a 4-bit data input. That’s the parallel data input to the HT12E encoder. This input is to be connected from a a single switch, so what sort of connection should i use since the switch only has a single output wire? I hope its better now?
