regarding PIC mc based project

I am starting simple projects on PIC mc , I have ordered all the components including devolopement board and PICkit-2 programmer . And i burned the programme in PIC16F877A using programmer but it isnot working(may be not excuting) on hardware .

What problems maybe ????

hv u tested ur program? 

hv u compiled it? hv you simulated it?

Yaah, I have tested and compiled the program. Program is working on proteous software but it is not working on hardware.
And I am using simple LED blinking program for testing the hardware even that is not working…… can you please mention the common mistakes done by any new users…..plzzz??????
