    Hello,

I am working on an IR sensor circuit. I use IR emitter and reciever LEDs, and feed the reciever output to LM358 op-amp as a comparator which then turns on a low-voltage motor. Although the circuit works, I don't get the sensing range which my project requires. i.e. I want a longer range (at least 60cm to be precise).

I've been advised to "pulse the circuit". Although I know the basics of pulsing, using 555 Timer astable configuration, I am not sure which IR led to pulse. Is it the emitter or reciever? or Both? And theroatically how will it help with the range besides the simple explanation that the IR LED will not be active high constantly.

Also, can someone please help me with simulation of this circuit on Proteus. Is it possible to actually simulate the circuit and measure the sensing range using Proteus?

    Thanks in advance.

obviously you have to give pulses to transmitter. its actually modulated wave. use 38 KHz frquency as carrier wave. and at receiver side use IR sensor like TSOP1738 or sharp sensor.this will increase range up to 20-25 feets. for ever more range search for IR range extender circuit on google
