In my project I have to transfer data from AT89S52 to PC using DB9 connector and MAX232 IC. For which I have bought USB to RS232 (DB9) cable to connect PC with MCU. In the driver CD supplied they have mentioned it can be used to transfer files from one pc to another pc using PCLinq3 software. Driver chip used in the cable is Prolific PL-25A1 controller chip. Can I use it for transferring data from pc to MCU or it is only meant for file transfer ?
Hi,
Don’t worry, you can use that device for simple data transfer also. Once the deriver is installed and the device is recognized by the PC, you can use any application with that device for simple data transfer like PUTTY, MTTY, Hyperterminal etc.
