    Hi,

I was developing a board using the circuit given in this site (http://www.engineersgarage.com/electronic-circuits/porch-light-circuit-diagram). I developed the board but it is not working. I am a biggener and hobbiest. I could see that, the STEP-BY-STEP illustration given in the picture is not matching with the circuit diagram  as Diode IN4007 is connected between PIN 2 and 11 in circuit but in STEP-BY-STEP illustration it is connecetd between 12 and 2.I tried both but it is not working.

Can anyone help me on this????

    Thanks in advance

    Regards,

    Shine K P

    Hi Shine

The diode needs to be connected between pin 2(P side) and pin 11(N side). Refer to its circuit diagram, you'll understand it better. Also make sure that you use a NPN transistor for LED switching. Otherwise, the circuit is fine. Try re-checking your connections and make sure that they are tight enough.

Good Luck & Happy Diwali :)

    Dear Singh,

I did the same as you suggested but it is not immedaitly on the light when I press the switch but it turns on after 30 seconds and switchs it off after 30 seconds automatically. What could be the fault.I need to turn the light on immediatly I press the switch and the rest is ok.

Please help me…Hope I am not bothering you.

    Regards,

    Shine

try using a PNP BC 557 transisitor intead of NPN BC 547; it seems like the output, at the very push of the button, becomes low. Try it out. Also now the transistor would be connected like this:

    1. Base connected to pin1 of IC via a current limiting resistor.

    2. Emmiter connected to VCC

    3. Collector connected to anode of LED (+ive pin)

    4. LED's cathode pin (-ive pin) grounded via a resistor.

    This should work

    Dear Singh,

As you advised, I have connected PNP transistor and see the below changes observed

1)LED is glowing when the power is ON

2)LED getting off after few seconds and getting ON automatically even I do not press switch

3)While pressing the switch also, the LED is glowing and gets off after few minutes

Since it is getting ON and OFF automatically (even if I don't press switch), I have connecetd Diode between pin 11 and 1 (instead of 2 and 11), Now the LED is getting ON while I power ON but after few seconds it gets off and it is getting ON while I press switch and gets off after a period. Now the problem I face is , while power on first time, the LED gets ON for few seconds.

Please advise, what to do….Is it right, if I connect diode between pins 11 and 1?

    Regards,

    Shine

This will happen only in the begining when you switch on the circuit, after that it will function as it is shown in the video. Also let the diode be connected between pin 2 and 11.
