I bought some “Phototransistors” for a IR detection circuit. But i tried many ways to impliment a comparator circuit using LM324. But then i noticed that the Phototransistor emits light(it glows green). Then i tried the others aswell. most of them were glowing green while 2 were glowing red and one was IR(i used a camera for that). So, is it normal for a phototransistor to glow?
if you want to detect IR only then you can use photodiode. if you want a higher range use TSOP sensors. And are you sure that you have used phototransistor, usually they don’t emmit light. If it is so please mention it.
if u want check the IR TRANSMITTER, u can use Any normal camera like mobile camera…
As far as i know it is impossible. You might have got the wrong component from the shop. Could you please share the part number and image of the component.
For a simple ir detection circuit you can use ir led and its compactable ir photodiode, commonly called “led receiver” in electronics shops
