I’m making an obstacle avoiding robot using a project in this site as a guideline. It says to use a L293D for the motor driver but I have a L293B. Will that be a problem. I’m a complete newbie so I’m not too sure of the difference. Here’s a link to the project

Any help would be appreciated
you just go through the datasheet of both chips.
you can easily sort out the differences urself
The ICs are pin compatible, the L293D has maximum current capability of 600mA while the L293D has 1A capability. So I don’t think you have to worry about the compatibility.
Still I would suggest you to be aware of the points mentioned in the following link
