I have a problem in interfacing microcontroller with max 232. I did circuit as it is given in this website (same as datasheet).
I am not getting anything on the other side(hyperterminal and also i have vb6 code to see it).
I rigged up this circuit twise in 2 different general purpose pcb still I am not successful.
Before doing this once I tried the same circuit in bread board I got it right that day. Now I already changed 3 ICs.

Send the link from where you have learn the max 232 ckt (you said on this site send the link of that page)
just short the of max 232 instead of connecting it to controller… it that works then you MAX is perfect…
what is the value of capcitor you have connected … have you checked each and every connections properly specially the +ve and the -ive part of capacitor

I connected 1uf electolyte capacitors and also tried for 10u and 0.1u capacitors.

hello yogi,
Max 232 is the simplest ckt… i dont knw why you getting such problem… any ways check out these steps…
1) just short the pin 2 and 3 of the serial port then open terminal and see weather you geeting echo….
if the above step goes perfect then you are able to open the serial porst of you PC check with step two…
2) Now make Max232 connections short pin 11 and 12 instead of sending it to controller and see weather you getting echo…
