Electronics › Electronics › Inverter question
When working out the current drawn from an appliance I divide the Wattage by the Voltage . If I connect an appliance to an inverter , connected to a 12V battery , which voltage do I use to find the current drawn ? Do I use 240(Inverter) or 12(Battery) ? Some folk I ask , don`t know what I`m talking about !! Hope someone here can help .
Hi,
If ‘P’ is the rated power of a device when it works on a voltage ‘V’, then the current ‘I’ flowing through the device is nothing but P/V.
In your case the ‘V’ is 240V. No doubt.
your source voltage is 240V for the load. so you need not to bother about 12VDC battery, you can calculate the current drawn by your appliance with respect to inverter.
Thank you both for your replies . It has been bugging me for quite a while . I`m new here . Thanks again . Kind Regards .
