How to interface Stepper motor and Dc motore with atmega16?

Hi I am a final year student. I am working on a project called Pick and Place Robot. I am not much known to Atmega16, still I am researching on this. Please if somebody can help me on making the circuit diagram for the same robot or atleast can suggest that which motors should be used in this robot. 

I referred DC motors for driving the robot, Stepper motor for the arm to move 360 degrees and for horizontal and vertical movement of the robot, I preferred stepper motors again.

 

Please if somebody could pass me on the interacing of motors with the controller circuit.
