Can anyone guide me what happens when a breakdown occurs. I am using a following ckt. As i increase the V1 power supply the voltage accross CE also increase the same but no current flows between collector emitter.

At datasheet the breakdown voltage occurs at 55V. I increased beyond 55 V but at last the 1K resistor burns out.

can anyone  guide me wht will happen when the breakdown occurs, wht shuold i check at that point ????
