i am using GPS VK16U6. i have connected Vcc and GND of GPS with Atmega16 and Tx of GPS with Rx of uc and vice-versa.
the output is showing only $ sign and some garbage value which is constantly changing. Plz help me…..

Could you compare that data with data format mentioned in the datasheet of GPS and see if there is a match or not. Is it possible for you to send a snapshot of the output ?
This is what I am getting when I have coded to get the last line of the format $GPGGA…..
