Garage door open signal

I have a remote controlled up and over garage door. I frequently leave it open by mistake. How can I wire up a light signal to go through the garage wall into the hall to indicate that the garage door is open. Ie light on = open door. I should add that the garage door us alarmed.

there are household electrics nearby. Thanks in anticipation of a answer to my question.

you can make simple RF switch that sends single RF signle from garage to hall when door is left open
