I have been on line follower bot for some while now. I have been using ir sensors (digital).

The problem I have been encountering all this while is the efficiency and/or the range of these sensors.

I came to find that the range and efficiency of ir sensors can be improved via pulse width modulation.  I need help regarding this as I have a little knowledge on this topic.

    Please help me out.

first tell me how much range you are getting?

next question how much range you want?

third and last question r u using readymade IR proximity sensors or you have made ur own?

the basic thing is with most of the available sensors you will get range of 2″ to 6″ max.

    Hi,

The technique is to fed the ir led with current higher than its maximum current rating, but for  an extremly short duration of time, periodically. Due to this the led won’t blow off, but will glow much brighter (for that short period only) and will give a better range.

well, to begin with i have been using ir sensors which i myself made.

and secondly the max range that i could obtain was about 2inches or so in a dark room, although the range varied depending upon the lighting conditions.

my main concern is regarding sensitivity not range as at present my sole purpose is to use them for line dectection only(#line-follorwer-bot).

in that case give proper shilding to your light sensor so that it works only on reflected light and not any other light.
