I have already tried the EVM project given in this site with the schematic & code using p89v51rd2 controller but P1-P4 switches dont work…. Reply me fast.

Hi,

Try using external pull down resistors with the switches S1, S2, S3 and S4.

there may be a voltage lag or corresponding voltages not reached to the pins check that when pressing switch logic high is passing in that corresponding line
