digital alarm clock with announcer

hi everyone

 

 kindly help me about our project. We need to create a digital alarm clock with annoncer. What kind of microcontroller we need to use? the scope of our project will be, the system will give a sound alarm (in an mp3 file-in which saved in a database) depends on the time set. Is it possible that our alarm clock will be stand alone eventhough the sound alarm was saved in the computer? The system also enables to broadcast a anouncement depends on the day it was set…. what kinds of electronic device are we going to use?
