Miscellaneous › Others › DB 9 connection
In the connection of GSM module with pic 18f4550……i ve to connect DB 9 (female;in gsm module) to the pic on bread board but i do not have DB 9 cable…..
so my ques is -i can connect with single strand wires?? and it is neccessary to connect all 9 pins of DB 9 or i can use it by connecting only Rx,Tx and GND???
plzzzzzz rply i m in mid of my project………..
you can use separate wires instead of db9 cable. you can use it by connecting only Rx,Tx and GND. other lines of db9 are only necessary if you implemented it in your program.
Hi Ravi,
You need pin only 2, 3 and 5 of the DB9 connector and ofcourse you can use any normal wire to connect the two connectors together.
a connector is nothing but a group of wires, you can use single stranded wires as most ports in DB9 are not used. Even if they were, you could have just soldered them to the board as per you need.
if communication is between pc to pc, controller to db-9 ,pin 2,3 and 5 enough . txr to rxr , rxr to txr gnd to gnd
