Microcontroller › 8051 › Computing speed problem
I need to work on a project using the 2051 or 4051 which is in the family of 8051 MCU. I thought about doing an octave down effect pedal (halves the input frequency and outputs it). But someone told me that computing speed would be a problem. Why? I really don't understand. Anyone who can enlighten me is very much appreciated. Our professor told me that I can solve it by using a higher clock with the external crystal. Is this possible?
If not how about a chromatic tuner? It's just comparing the input frequency with the ones you can find on google. And it doesn't need to work in "real-time" a delay in the output would be okay as long as it doesn't exceed 1 second. Although I would like it to show if for example the input is in the range of middle E but lower than the "in-tune E" on LEDs.
