    Hello

I am currently designing a people counter which counts the number of people that walk inj and out of a door way. I am using 2 parallel ir beams.

The beams need to be 0.8 meters apart and need to know the type of emitter and reciever (irled and photo transistor ?) and the circuit I need resistor values and if i need to have the led pulstaing.

Bean 1 will be on the outside and when that is broken my 4510 counter will be set to count up and when beam 2 is broken which is on the inside it will trigger the counter to count(intailly the counter is set to count down). Will it be better for me to use the 555 in astable mode?

    *******I cannot use micro controllers*********

    Thanks

this is very simple and easy project. can be easily build without micro controller

u can use IR LED and photo diode or

    single LDR or

    IR LED and IR sensor

and you need priority encoder that determines which beam is cut first

I have sorted out my counter problem by using a decade counter which doesnt need a 555 time it works on rising edge. I just need some help with th Ir leds and phototransistor setup so that they can be 0.8m apart and ambient light must not effect it.

    Thanks again.

i said earlier u can use LASER-LDR, LED-LDR in place of IR LED and photodiode
