Hi, I'm studing electronic and communications engineering in the Dominican Republic.

I have to do a project from university about ASK OOK transmitter, I wanna do it with a crystal oscillator that will create my carrier wave of  (x)MHz, i wanna use a crystal oscillator because it is a stable oscillator. For the OOK (On-Off keying) i wanna use a transistor but the problem is that have to be a transistor that switch the oscillator very fast, by putting it On-off.

I want some ideas  about what frequency use for the oscillator and what transistor may i use. Also i want some ideas about what other things  can i do for do this modulation in a MHz frequency. I tried with the 555 timer but this IC can't generate a MHz frequency in a stable way.

    Please help me.

you can try with MAX1472. it is crystal referenced PLL. it can able to transmit OOK/ASK signal data in 300 MHz to 450 MHz (VHF/UHF) range.

if you don't want to use this IC then you can choose, 3 to 5 MHz crystal based collpits oscillator to generator signal and apply that signal as input to any ASK transmitters.

    Thanks for answer me.

I will try with the MAX1472 thank you.
