This would be based on the principles on how a digital caliper works (A capacitive strip). The waist size would be measured by the belt and recorded which can be then used to track using a computing device such as the mobile phone. This will be an indicator of gaining and losing the body fat. any idea about this project??

You can use a flexible rheostat which is to be custom designed for this project. which will result in resistance difference according to where the metal part of the belt touches the belt. like a linear variable resistance. which can be converted to the length and transferred to any device.
