That was the circuit which I found when I opened the control pad of my first controllable toy car.
M1 and M2 are DC motors, L1 and L2 are livers for forward/backward and left/right movement respectievely.
The Livers are connected to the switches in such a way that, in the case of L2, when the lever is pulled leftwrads, the left most switch make contact with the lower panel and the rightmost switch made contact with the upper panel. It happens in the reverse oredr when the L2 is pulled rightwards. Similar in the case of L1
