Hi, sorry for not poting an immediate reply, been busy learning more about the 8051 applications.
have u connected standard crystal circuit and power on reset circuit?
No, I have not done that, I didn’t know it was a necessary/minimum requirment for the 8051. But I have recently learnt it is needed, so I will redisign the circuit with these components added into the schematic.
why u have changed motor? DC motor is perfect. stepper motor is not at all suitable for vibration alert.
Ok, as you have mentioned, I did someresearch into DC motor and it is much better than the stepper motor. So i shall also include it into the new schematic design too.
u said u want to do communication?
Yes, this project’s objective is to create 2 similar working device to exchange user’s data over IR within a local proximity (2~10metres).
After the exchanging data, the 8051 will execute a program to meet some requirments. If the requirments are right, the device will notify the user by activating the DC motor to vibrate and alert the user.
my question is how? using built in UART?
Hmm, on this portion of the project I am quite unclear. My current thoughts are using a transmitter and receiver for communications. With further consultation from my project supervisor, I have been given an idea to use a tranciever to manage the communications. I read up a little on UART, and I am a little unsure of it’s application still, so I will have to do further research on it. If you know of this device, please do provide me links/video/guide of what it’s purpose is how it will be an advantage to my project. I will try my best to understand the UART as soon as possible.
u have to use TSOP IR sensor and at the transmitter side you have to use 38 KHz squarewave oscillator.
I am unsure of the TSOP IR sensor as well, but I will look into too. Thank you for the vital infomation of the frequency needed to be genarated by the transmitter.
Thank you very much for you time and help in this project. I will continue to update this forum as often as possible with more infomation in the future. If you have any ideas/ suggesstions, please do tell me. I will look into them.
