The receiver receiving only once issue might be the presence of a bug in your code. Please add the code in your nect post.
The RF module can have a maximum distance of 30 meter only, you can’t get more than that. The datasheet of that particular module will help you to identify the maximum possible range with and without antenna.
Ofcourse they work efficiently in line of sight only as in the case of any other RF communication devices.
If you are looking for long range communication and better performance the RF modules are not a good option!
