Hi Franki

Yes it does make sense and you just need a little help form EG's side. Check out these links which will help you build your own circuit:

1. "engineersgarage.com/electronic-circuits/soil-moisture-detector"

2. "engineersgarage.com/electronic-components/rf-module-transmitter-receiver"

You can use the former link to detect presence of water, then make use of 2nd link and transmit data wirelessly over RF. RF's transmitter will be present at the water detection circuit while it's receiver will be linked to the circuit having buzzer.

Although I have not told you what exactly needs to be done, these links will surely help you understand the concept and come up with your own unique way of doing the same.
