Hi,

 

0.3 to 0.5 voltage drop is usual. This is becuse of two possible reasons.

 

1. Insufficient power input

2. More power sinking from 7805

 

In first case, measure the input voltage accross 7805 if it is enough or not.

 

For 2nd case, use metallic case 7805 which is having higher current capacity.
